One artist’s sound feeding into another’s — a duo-led contemporary performance practice.
the name is the work
Briana Gillet and Andrew Bennett met in spring 2026 at the FUSE Interdisciplinary Collaborative Residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Each arrived with a practice of their own; there, the two converged. Project I/O is what they founded together.
The work draws live music, movement, theatre, projection, and design into singular, site-aware productions. It is built to be felt, not watched from a distance — the audience inside the arc of the work.
The duo brings together Gillet’s trumpet practice and cross-medium methodology with Bennett’s voice-only composition and multi-disciplinary direction. Two artistic philosophies meeting in a single practice.

A cross-medium performance exploring the arc of relationships and human connection.
Live instruments processed in real time through effects and electronic manipulation. Aerial acrobatics, contact dance, and strap work moving through and around the sound. It builds from tender duets into fractured group dynamics, and ends in suspension.
Project I/O is artist-led by design. The duo travels alongside a core group of artists and leads a residency-incubator that activates local artists in each city. I/O experiences are created by the people performing them, with creative authority shared amongst the room.
briana gillet
French-American trumpet player and cross-medium artist based in Salt Lake City. Her work merges classical and contemporary traditions with electro-acoustic sound, movement, and visual media — running the trumpet through effects pedals, processing and mixing live.
A founding member of the Bridger Brass Quintet, a performer with the Chrysalis Rock Orchestra, and a member of the Gillet Trio. She is Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Utah Valley University and is completing her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Utah.
andrew bennett
Artist, composer, and choreographer from Saskatoon, working under the name Factor Eight — cinematic music built entirely from his own voice, alongside dance, performance art, and installation.
His work has been heard in trailers for Gladiator II and the Oscar-winning Women Talking, and in productions for Universal, A24, Disney+, and Apple TV+. A three-time Saskatchewan Music Award winner.
