performance : nuit blanche saskatoon : 2026

you are here.

You are here. was a Nuit Blanche Saskatoon commission in 2026. I made it as Project I\O with Briana Gillet and Kirk Ford, and we performed it four times on the night of September 19, in the intersection of Broadway Avenue and 10th Street East, closed to traffic for the festival.

A car sat in the middle of the intersection as a sculpture, with raised platforms around it. Kirk choreographed the movement, and we danced it on the platforms and around the car. The sound was my voice, processed, and Briana’s trumpet, played live. Some of the light came from inside the car.

On a map, “you are here” shows where you start from. We used it for the place the audience had arrived at after crossing the city, and the piece asked them to stay in the moment once they were there. The words were projected onto white fabric that the performers held up.
